Here's the deal. I've been single since time immemorial. So, in an attempt to remedy my eternal singledom, and to get over my nauseatingly pathological fear of dates, I've decided to challenge myself. The challenge? To go on one first date a week for a year! So in 52 weeks time, I will have either found my Mr Right, or I'll stay forever Miss Write. This is what happens...

The Rules

Here are the rules to the 52 First Dates challenge...

1. A first date must be had once a week, EVERY week, for a year, that's 52 dates in 52 weeks.

2. Taking someone home after a drunken night on the cider does NOT count.

3. Second and third dates are allowed, I must continue first dates unless there are exceptional mitigating circumstances. For example, God forbid, the start of a relationship.

4. Each date must be blogged.

16 July 2012

And the winner is...

So that's it. The lines have been closed, the votes have been individually counted and verified, and I can now reveal that the identity of Mr #52 is (drum roll please...)

Mr #52A - The Great Dane!

I'd like to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you who voted for your favourite, and more especially, to the five very game gentlemen who allowed me to put them up for the final vote. It was actually a pretty closely run battle, the leader changed a couple of times, and at the end there were only 20 votes in it. But many congratulations to The Great Dane, and good may need it!

Stay tune for further updates! Now, where did I leave my passport...

  1. I agree with Becky: yay!!
I hope the you have a great time with mr. Copenhagen.

  2. Jolly well done! Hope the date rocks :-)

    Mr 52O – aka Captain C-Diff x

  3. Fantastic news - hope that's the one you wanted :0) Are we allowed the others?

  4. Massive thanks to everybody who voted in my direction, and I'll echo what my erstwhile rival said above :)

    Lethal B....

  5. Great Dane is good, but I'm already looking forward to Mr. 52b, 52c, 52d etc.
    Good luck!

  6. As a Dane who has followed you since mr 22 I am so happy for you - I hope he is all you expect and that he will be a good representative of our fine country and culture (which has not always been known for its appreciation of foreigners much to my distaste) - remember to ask him to go to one of our great bakeries and taste a real danish (the danishes Ive tried abroad are never the same as the homegrown ones). Good luck!

  7. I thought he had a girlfriend, didn't he?!

  8. I cannot believe I have come accross this blog so late in the game! I've just started t'internet dating myself (first date tonight) and I am nervous as hell! Your blog has given me the STRENGTH TO GO ON! So thank you, thank you thank you thank you for being braver than I could have ever been!

  9. YES! Can't WAIT for this date! xxx
